Between May 28 and 31, the National Museum of Music hosts the conference "Transnational Musical & Theatrical Influences in the 18th-Century Atlantic World," organized by Divino Sospiro — Center for 18th-Century Music Studies in Portugal and the Society for Eighteenth-Century Music, with support from CESEM, the Center for Music Studies at NOVA University. To crown the event, on May 30 at 8:00 PM, the National Museum of Music presents a concert open to all interested audiences, featuring the Divino Sospiro orchestra conducted by Massimo Mazzeo, with sopranos Eunice Abranches d’Aguiar and Patrycja Gabrel.
A unique opportunity to rediscover the finest Baroque repertoire, including rarely performed works by Francisco António de Almeida — the renowned composer who was a scholarship holder of King João V in Italy — as well as by Giuseppe Totti, Francisco Garcia Fajer, Giovanni Bononcini, and Marcos Portugal.
